Engagement with the Community

The Manitowoc Company’s charitable giving program combines volunteer work with financial support to make a meaningful, lasting impact on our communities. We actively partner with nonprofit groups and projects to donate time, needed materials and financial resources to support the communities where we live and work. We place special emphasis on combating food insecurity in our communities, as well as supporting children, women, and veterans. 

In 2024, the Company’s workforce dedicated many hours of volunteer work actively supporting local food banks, homeless shelters, veteran services agencies, environmental conservation programs, local schools’, Junior Achievement, youth athletics, programs to support people with disabilities, and more. 

School Assistance Event

_{Pune, India}

Manitowoc is committed to supporting underprivileged communities. This year, our Pune, India location identified a school located in a remote area of Pune. In June, they visited the school, interacted with the students, and provided them with educational kits to assist them in their studies. Approximately 125 students benefited from this initiative. 

Manitowoc’s relationship with Brooke’s House, a rehabilitation center dedicated to helping women in substance use recovery, dates back to 2020. This past year, Manitowoc donated $100,000 to Brooke’s House. The partnership has proven mutually beneficial, with Manitowoc employing nearly 20 graduates from Brooke’s House who have gained valuable occupational skills and job training while recovering from substance abuse. 

Dave Hull, SVP for mobile cranes sales in North America and Europe, shared the story behind the partnership and praised the efforts of Kevin and Dana Simmers, founders of Brooke’s House. Hull expressed his admiration for the initiative, the commitment of Manitowoc’s executive team to support such a meaningful cause, and funding from the Manitowoc Foundation. 

“I’ve known Kevin Simmers for 35 years and understand the journey he and Dana have been on. I’m incredibly proud of my company for supporting Brooke’s House. Every person on the stage here has visited Brooke’s House, met the women, and witnessed the real impact of our support. This is not just a partnership, it’s a commitment to building something real and meaningful,” Hull said.

Sensation'Elles du BTP

Dijon, France

In June, Potain attended Sensation'Elles du BTP in Dijon, France. The event, organized by the FFB - Fédération Française du Bâtiment (French Construction Federation), highlighted the increasing role of women in the construction sector and welcomed 450 women from the construction world. Attendees had the opportunity to try out our virtual reality headset, which allowed them to experience the (virtual) thrill of the ascent into the mast of the MDT 809, which was instrumental in the reconstruction of Notre-Dame de Paris. At the end of the virtual animation, participants can virtually walk on the crane jib and enjoy a breathtaking view of Paris.

Ronald McDonald House Volunteering Event

Milwaukee, WI 

In July, Manitowoc's corporate office organized a volunteer event at the Ronald McDonald House in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Employees prepared and served dinner for families staying at the house. The mission of the Ronald McDonald House is to keep families together and promote the health and well-being of children.  Since the Ronald McDonald House opened its doors in 1984, they have been keeping families together by providing more than 50,000 family stays. 

Clothing Donation Event

Portugal 

In November, Manitowoc’s Portugal location launched an initiative designed to support local families in need. The team spearheaded a drive to collect clothing and toys from employees and their families, promoting the recycling and repurposing of these items. This initiative provided essential resources to disadvantaged families.

Manitowoc Company Scholarship Program 

Since its inception in 1989, The Manitowoc Company Scholarship Program has supported the academic achievement of over 1,030 students and has awarded over $3 million in scholarships. 

Recipients receive a renewable $1,500 scholarship for up to four years of undergraduate study at a North American college or university.  

The 2024 class had 27 scholarship recipients.  

“I'm very grateful to have been selected as a recipient of the Manitowoc Company Scholarship Award. The financial assistance has been helpful for me as a student-athlete, as I have to sacrifice working hours at my job to do a sport that I love. Being a student-athlete means balancing many competing interests – studying for my classes, taking care of my body and mind, competing at a high level, and maintaining a social life. I plan to pursue a career in the field of health, wellness, and fitness and continue using the skills I have learned as a student-athlete, and the scholarship from the Manitowoc Foundation has supported me in gaining those skills and navigating balance in college.”
