Manitowoc Leans In

In July 2022, the Company launched its first women’s resource group, Manitowoc Leans In. With a mission to build community and empower women within Manitowoc, the group connects women across all departments and levels. The goal is to foster collaboration, encourage networking, and provide an opportunity to develop leadership and other essential skills. Manitowoc Leans In was first launched within the U.S. organization. Several in-person and virtual events were held on topics such as workplace bias, leadership skills and how to navigate work life balance. In total 225 employees participated in these events. In 2023, the focus is to continue this momentum and launch the Leans In initiative globally.

Employee Engagement Survey

Manitowoc launched Employee Engagement Surveys globally in 2022. The goal in 2022 was to complete engagement surveys of our French and German workforce, roughly one third of the global workforce. The survey measured perceptions of the work environment, helped to understand employee needs, and provided guidance for what motivates employees to succeed. Survey results were anonymous, which encouraged employees to be open in their responses.

The goal of the surveys was to help measure our strengths and achievements and define improvement areas while maintaining complete confidentiality. The results were shared with our leadership teams and with all employees. We created a detailed action plan focused on areas of improvement received as part of the survey feedback. We plan to continue the survey process with at least another one third of our global workforce in 2023.

International Women's Day at Porto

As part of our community outreach from our Portugal entity, the local team took the opportunity to support "Lar Luisa Canavarro," a private non-profit organization that supports single mothers. The team collected provisions to support 22 women and their children. They visited the organization, delivered the donations, and spent time with the women.

The Manitowoc Foundation

Through the Manitowoc Foundation, the Company provides financial support to a broad array of U.S.-based charities, with a particular focus on the needs of children, education, and helping those who have experienced a natural disaster. In 2022, the Manitowoc Foundation donated over $125,000 to public and charitable organizations in the communities where our team members live and work and where we do business.

Make-A-Wish Foundation

Manitowoc’s U.S. manufacturing facility located in Pennsylvania participated in the Franklin County Truck Convoy benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Manitowoc had a TMS9000-2 crane join the other 189 vehicles traveling in the convoy through Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. The event raised over $55,000 to grant life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.

Joy in Every Bundle

The Singapore team participated in a “Joy in Every Bundle” activity in partnership with a local food bank to benefit the THK Senior Services Center. They donated, packed, and delivered food provisions to 50 beneficiaries, most of whom were elderly. It started pouring rain halfway through the event, but it didn’t stop the team from delivering sunshine and smiles to the elderly!

Kids Building Wisconsin

Kids Building Wisconsin is a fun, educational, interactive hands-on event for kids centered around the construction industry. The event happens in the Madison, Wisconsin area every May. 2022 was the first year Manitowoc took part in the event. The Manitowoc display theme was designed to generate excitement about the many construction-related careers that our Company offers. Manitowoc displayed three categories to engage with attendees: “Are you a future welder?” with a welding simulator, “Are you a future Engineer” with tabletop fulcrum displays, and “Are you a future crane operator” with a Manitowoc crawler crane cab that kids could sit inside. Manitowoc is planning to attend again in 2023.

Brooke's House

Founded in 2019, Brooke’s House provides a community-based, safe, stable, and emotionally supportive living environment for adult women in the early stages of substance abuse recovery.

Manitowoc has been a corporate sponsor of Brooke’s House since its founding. In 2022, the Company stepped up its commitment by providing job training and employment in welding and assembly operations at our Shady Grove, Pennsylvania facility for women who have graduated from the in-treatment portion of the Brooke’s House program.
